Thank you all for an incredible second season! Smoke & Timber will be closed for the month of April for a spring refresh. We'll be reopening in May with a brand new seasonal menu.

Introducing Hatley Pointe

Formerly the Wolf Ridge Ski Resort, Hatley Pointe is now the newly owned and rebranded boutique mountain resort in Mars Hill, North Carolina.

Deborah and David Hatley, of Johnson City, TN are excited to acquire this beloved family-friendly destination and have planned improvements, enhancements, and added experiential amenities to add value to the existing structure. Operations, and activities.

The acquisition will add to the diverse portfolio of development projects and further position the Appalachian Highlands as a premier regional destination for outdoor adventure.

“We want to really celebrate and honor the legacy that the English family has taken such pride in creating over the years. The authentic family-oriented service and opportunity to enjoy this exceptional part of the country year-round…especially when the season permits the use of the mountains atop skis or a snowboard.” Says co-owner and CEO, Deborah Hatley.

“We have something very special here and want to enhance its beauty, functionality, and comfort to see many more successful seasons on the mountain.”

What’s to come.

The planned improvements will begin this year with an updated lodge, rebranding, restaurant, locker rooms, retail, VIP lounge, operating systems, new top-of-the-line rental equipment, and enhancements to the snow-making capabilities. We will also continue to focus on elevating service levels to match the elevated product and expectations of future and return guests.

Future improvements and enhancements over the next five years to include year-round operations, tennis courts, “leaf peeping” lift rides, mountain biking, and additional lodge and accommodations.

The new ownership is dedicated to positioning this as a competitive boutique mountain resort and adventure destination. The property is conveniently located just five miles off of I-26,  30 minutes North of Asheville, NC. This is home to some of the most sought-after mountain terrain in the Southeast. We are excited to see this project develop and can’t wait to hit the slopes!
